October 2021 Pagar Vahela Karva Babat : In a bonanza for Railway employees, the central government has announced Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) equivalent to 78 days’ wages for the financial year 2020-21. The bonus amount is applicable for all eligible non-gazetted Railway employees excluding RPF or RPSF personnel. The PLB has been approved by the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. About 11.56 lakh non-gazetted Railway employees are likely to benefit from the decision, the Union Cabinet said in a statement. “Payment of PLB to eligible railway employees is made each year before the Dusshera or Puja holidays,” the Union Cabinet said in the statement.
The PLB Scheme for the Railways came into force from the year 1979-80 and was evolved in consultation with the two recognized Federations namely, All India Railway men’s Federation and National Federation of Indian Railwaymen and with the approval of the Cabinet. The scheme envisages a review every three years, the statement reads.
The central employees get the allowance for the education of their children, which is Rs 2,250 each month and as per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission. But, since last year due to the Corona pandemic, the schools were closed, due to which, the employees could not claim the Children Education Allowance (CEA).
In the month of July, the Department of Personnel & Training issued an Office of Memorandum. In which it was said that due to the Corona pandemic, the central personnel has faced in claiming the Children Education Allowance. Even after depositing fees via the online method, the result/report cards were not sent from school through SMS/e-mail. The Department of Personnel & Training said that the CE claims can also be claimed through the self-declaration or SMS/e-mail printout of the result/report card/ fee payment. However, this facility will be available only for the academic year ending in March 2020 & March 2021.

After giving the increased Dearness Allowance (DA) & Dearness Relief (DR) to the central government employees & pensioners, now there is great news. Employees who could not claim Children Education Allowance (CEA) due to the Corona Pandemic, they can now claim it, without submitting any kind of official document.
